Get a variety of old Mother Goose Books from the library - be sure the illustrations are no longer in copyright - copy an illustration from a different book to match each line. Put illustrator's name and copyright date below each illustrator. This will show the different styes and shows enough initiative that your son should get a good grade on the project.
Good luck. Ask the librarians to help you find illustrated versions that are no longer copyrighted (though for a school project, I don't think you'd have any real problem and could probably use contempory illustrations).
