About the Sound/Radio PSAs:
A huge thanks to all of the following folks for helping making the Audio/Radio PSAs happen.
Sara J. Groves, Communications and Marketing Coordinator for the Montana State Library. She donated her talent by writing "The PSA Scripts" in 5 assorted time lengths for CSLP. I worked for Sara when she worked for ALA's Public Information Office. She was the PR PRO for their "@ your library" Campaign before moving to Montana.
Ellen Zyroff Principal Librarian/Public Information Officer San Diego County Library, California & Ruth Kopikis of San Diego for providing the Spanish translations of "The PSA Scripts" to libraries in California and the other 32 Member States of CSLP.
Barbara Huntington, CSLP President. When Barbara was telling me how Wisconsin was going to be recording the PSAs - I jokingly said (well only half joking), "Would they just "dup" a second set and leave off Wisconsin's name?". She said, "No problem!" and then made it happen! Barb, thanks for taking me seriously.
Then radio spots were produced and recorded by Ron Anderson, Publication Editor for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Ron manages the production of weekly radio spots on various educational topics. Ron also wrote a poem for CSLP this year, and his recording of it is included on this web page.
Oscar Mendoza Cruz of Madison, Wisconsin recorded Spanish versions of the radio spots. Oscar is originally from Mexico City. Several years ago his English tutor took him to a public library for the first time to get him a card and help him select some videos and audiotapes to practice his English. She told him everything was free. When they left the library he said, "I want you to stop teasing me and tell me how much all of this costs. It can't be free." She had a hard time convincing him that public library services were, in fact, free. Now fluent in both English and Spanish, Oscar recorded these radio spots as his free contribution to public libraries.
Any finally thanks to CSLP for providing $1,000 for the only thing we could not get donated - the usage/copyrights of the background music.
Stephanie Stokes Chair, CSLP Marketing & Communications Committee Coordinator, The California SRP Collaborative
