Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat

Posted by David Hunter on April 12, 2001 at 05:11:30:

I am looking for verification on the meaning of the "Pussy Cat" nursery rhyme. My assumption is that it is a commoner's mockery of royalty. A cat, in the presence of a queeen, had rather chase mice than bow to a pompous potentate. Is that the idea? This is for my sermon Sunday on "Blindness to being in God's Presence". Any assistance would be much appreciated. While I am at it, what are the original words and historical background of "Ring Around the Roses/Rosie"?
