babies respond to rhythm and rhyme. The nonsense rhymes of Mother Goose and Father Fox and all the rest are not meant to make sense. Young children learn music and rhythmn best between birth and nine years. These rhymes stimulate the child and encourage him/her to participate in the fun of music and language.
